His Favorite Quotes

Achan loved the classics he had read in his youth-he fondly recalled the opening sentences of the works that he loved and re-read. “ It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.” - Charles Dickens’ Tale of Two Cities. “ I dreamed I were in Manderley again.” - Daphne DubMaurier’s Rebecca. His favorite lines from Milton: “Sweetest Shakespeare, Fancy’s child, warbled his native woodnotes wild.” He borrowed Dickens’ original works from British Council library for me to read when i was too young to understand much of it and shared the wonders of Jane Austen with me. To this day, I love the classics he introduced to me. If he read something that was well- written, with a touching turn of phrase, he enjoyed it thoroughly, often sharing them with me. He gave me, by sharing his joy as a reader, a lifelong appreciation of the written word.
